Oaxaca — brunch, food

A hip yet quaint spot tucked just off the busy streets of Oaxaca. It felt immediately approachable as a traveler, the kind of place where you could ease into the city without having to think too hard about the menu or how things worked. It got crowded, but that was part of the rhythm here. There was a short wait, so I spent time next door at their bakery, which felt like an extension of the experience rather than a backup plan.

From a western perspective, brunch here leaned familiar in a reassuring way. The flavors and dishes felt recognizable, but still carried a local character that made it worth seeking out. It was an easy place to reset after a few days of heavier meals, with lighter options and really well done bread that stood out right away.

The atmosphere had that balance of trendy and relaxed, where you could sit with a coffee and not feel rushed, even with the crowd moving in and out. It was the kind of place I found myself recommending to other travelers who wanted something dependable without feeling like they were stuck in a tourist bubble.

Now this was different for me. Eggs cooked with a spicy tomato base sauce. The dense cuts of bread went great with it. I need to find more of this back stateside.
