Hawaiiala moana, ginza, honolulu, kalakaua, oahu, shirokiya, shopping, tonkatsu, waikiki

You kinda realize it when you’re walking past people, getting agitated in line, and trying to get straight to the point, which was to relax. Problem was, my mind was still at silicon valley speed. Not quite like New York light speed, but that under the skin angst that you know time is limited. Oh it felt so good to shake that off. Slowly now, one step at a time, enjoy where you are and why you worked so hard to get here. There we go. Now, what better way to spend this time, but to go shopping.

Okay, not really my idea but it started with a stroll and ended with bags goods. Well, at least we got to eat at some great spots.

Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin is a small place that’s actually a worm hole that’ll take you to a dimension where the service was quintessential Japanese but the portions were for giganticons. I was waiting to see if Godzilla came in to eat while I mashed up my sesame seeds. But alas, only Mothra stopped by. We chowed on the Kurobuta and regular Pork Loin tonkatsu. The huge cuts left us in such a food coma we had to knock back several cups of tea before proceeding. Oh, they have a limited serving of Kurobuta so going there during lunch is a good idea.

After we pulled ourselves back to streets of Honolulu we were off hitting shop after shop. We covered every store from Kalakaua to Ala Moana mall (pretty nice outdoor mall by the way). My feet were killing me after about four hours of roaming around. Luckily there was Shirokiya. What else can it be but a Japanese style food court filled with take away foods. Not quite easy on the wallet, but quite easy on convenience. Nibble a little there and take the rest home watch the sunset. Oh Hawaii, you’re one unique place.

Food:

Went Japanese today and thanks to Ginza and a stop at Shirokiya, it was successful. Not even close to Hawaiian food, but hey, there’s some great Japanese eats here. You’ll have to shell out some bucks for it though.

Getting Around:

Walk. Good for shopping, good for your health. But if you’re tired, take the pink trolley. You’ll have to wait and gasp at all the JCB and Lea Lea trollies passing by making you wonder why you weren’t born Japanese. They gots some good perks in this city.

Total Costs:

$60 Lunch at Ginza
$30 Shirokiya
$2 Trolley Ride
