Washington DC — air and space, museum, pho, pho sate, shopping, us-food, virginia

I was heading to the National Air and Space Museum in Virginia when I noticed I forgot my camera. These days I hate driving and to head back was not what I preferred. Plus it was getting hot and the AC in my car was barely keeping up. So, I decided to go shopping. It was in the plans to take advantage of the lower sales tax in the area. What I didn’t plan for was to spend two hours shopping in Tyson’s Corner only make it out with a new Redskins cap. Not that it helped with the game, but I was hoping to make out like a bandit. Alas, my new drive to get more work acceptable clothing has failed.

The only highlight of the day was my stop off for pho. Yes, I can eat this four times a week. This particular stop off was to Pho Sate. A place that used to be around years ago, but has resurfaced at a newer and larger place. Great to see more varieties of pho pop up around town.

Verdict: Love the uniqueness of the sate.

All in all, with the failed museum trip, empty handed shopping excursion, and the disappointing Monday Night football, I’ll have to write this day off and hope tomorrow would be better.

Roast Chilli Oil @Pho Sate

The secret stuff. Yeah, it can make things oily, but you’re talking to a guy that orders that side of oily green onions to put into his pho. So this doesn’t phase me at all. Love it.

Pho #1 @Pho Sate

Pho was good with your typical balance of broth to protein and carb ratio. What I like about it was the difference in flavor. No need for hoisin sauce or sriracha. All that was needed was that little bowl of roasted chilli. That’s the secret to making this version very different and enjoyable. Though, I have to say, it does remind me of the instant pho you can get at the grocery store. But this was much better. Yet, I’ll need to crave this taste before opting over normal comforting Southern View style pho. Just my opinion. $7.95USD/Large Bowl

Iced Coffee @Pho Sate

I have to say, I am not a fan of pre-made ca phe sua da. And at this price it sucks. You’re lucky I am a fan of this kind of pho. $3.50USD
