Waiting at Palace Station Oyster Bar
This was one of those places where you committed before you even got there. The wait was long, and there was no way around it. A small counter, no reservations, and a steady line that did not really move quickly. It felt like part of the experience more than an inconvenience, especially knowing people were lining up for the same reason. The payoff came once you finally sat down.
We went all in on seafood. Raw clams and oysters to start, which were fresh and straightforward, then moved into their signature bowls. The pan roast was the one to get, a rich, creamy seafood stew loaded with shrimp, crab, and lobster, finished with a bit of heat and served over rice. It was heavy in the best way and easily the kind of dish you remembered after the trip.
The atmosphere was tight and lively. It was an 18 seat counter right in the middle of the casino floor, with chefs cooking everything in front of you. Seating was shoulder to shoulder, service was fast and direct, and the energy stayed high the entire time. You could hear the constant motion of orders being called and dishes coming together, which made it feel more like a performance than a quiet meal.
It was not polished or relaxed, but that was exactly the point. You waited, you squeezed in, you ate something great, and you walked out understanding why people were willing to do it all over again.

It’s shrimp, crab, and lobster cooked in a creamy tomato stew with a hint of brandy served with steamed rice. What more can you ask for?!?! Well, an extra bowl of course to share. These bowls were large.

Shrimp, crab, lobster and clam served New England style. This was definitely the heavier of the two bowls to eat. Spoiler alert, we didn’t finish this one.

Freshly shucked. These are your typical gulf oysters that are plump and juicy. If you have a large belly like I do, a dozen is a decent appetizer (to share).

I was hesitant at first, having only cooked clams all my life. But it turned out just fine – bit more chewy than oysters yet still full of flavor.
