Grilling at Kuromon Aquatic
A grilled seafood spot with one difference from what you might not expect — they take the seafood away to a prep station rather than preparing it table side. There are portable stoves at the bar, but I think it’s more for hot pot cooking. Sorta a disappointment. However, we didn’t need to have smoke bother our kid after all. I should mention there are lots of tables and the spacing in between was cramp. So it’s not very convenient for families. It only worked out for us because we were there before the dinner rush.
Onto the meal. The seafood was fresh and well executed, if not particularly exciting. Scallops came in a butter sauce, prawns with a light salt seasoning. Nothing that made you stop mid-bite, but nothing to complain about either. The abalone was the highlight — simply prepared, which was the right call. It didn’t need much. The crab mix will definitely catch your eye. It did for me. There was so much more on the menu than what two people could eat. So it would have been much better with more company.
This is the kind of place where you order a beer, work through the seafood, catch up with friends, and call it a good night.

Verdict: Not a must go. But more of a place to hang out and eat with friends, where the food will occasionally catch your attention.

I wanted to like this. I really did. The presentation was great and they had all the ingredients I liked, from crab meat, to roe, and to uni. What wasn’t there to like? Well, you don’t eat it like this. They take it back and cook it for you and just mix it all up. What you get is a green paste that you eat with the crackers. All the wonderful individual flavors lost unfortunately.

This was a good set we got. Shellfish were all pretty fresh. As I may have mentioned, this was just a viewing before they take it away to prepare them individually. All in all a tasty set.

These were the clams prepared in butter, lots of butter from what I can tell. It wasn’t completely butter but enough for you to notice.

These were plump and meaty and my favorite out of the set. I’m actually glad there weren’t any toppings. Just a squeeze of lime was all it needed.

My favorite of the night. Simply prepared over flames for that hint of char while keeping the meat fresh and firm. I recommend getting one… two… or as many as you want to have with your beer.
